Our services

PPN Community Representatives

Under the Local Government Reform Act 2014, all local authority committees on which communities are represented must source those community reps through the PPN.

The procedure followed is:

 
  • The PPN Secretariat is advised by the Local Authority or other body of vacancies on boards. Notification of these vacancies will be issued to all Member Groups and nominations sought.
  • If more than one nomination is received for a vacancy an election will be held. Each member group in the Electoral College which has a vacancy will be entitled to one vote.
  • The candidate receiving the highest number of votes will be elected.
PPn Reps

Following the local elections in June 2024, Monaghan County Council requested Monaghan Public Participation Network to fill various seats on each of its Five Strategic Policy Committees. Strategic Policy Committees are structured around the main functions of council and advise the council in the formulation, development and review of policies.

Monaghan PPN were asked to seek 2 PPN representative nominations for the Coiste Logainmeacha Committee, the work of the Coiste Logainmeacha include:

  1. Suggesting appropriate Irish only names for local authority housing developments
  2. Working in an advisory capacity with private developers in suggesting appropriate Irish only or bilingual names for housing and other developments
  3. Ensuring the accuracy of both Irish and English place names in local authority signage throughout the county
